Anthropic releases Claude Opus 4.5 at a 66% price cut

VERIFIEDConfidence: 80%

Anthropic released Claude Opus 4.5, its flagship reasoning model, on November 24, 2025. The model introduces an effort parameter that lets developers trade response speed for reasoning depth. At $5 per million input tokens and $25 per million output tokens, it costs 66% less than Opus 4.1.

The price reduction makes the Opus line viable for production use at scale, not just research workloads. It scored 80.9% on SWE-bench Verified -- a standard benchmark for coding and software engineering tasks -- the highest of any model at the time of release.
